Are there good vacation spots that cater to people specifically without children?

It seems like people take their kids EVERYWHERE, and even the tried and trusted vacation hotspots now brag that they are "family friendly". Are there ANY nice, romantic, getaway vacation spots left on earth that aren't being overrun by people who insist on bringing their kids EVERYWHERE with them, and selfishly ruining the vacation holiday experience for everyone else? I laughingly thought maybe Antartica or the Galapogas Islands or even the Great Pyramids... until someone directed me to a web site where people were complaining how many kids there were there too (and, because the little kids were bored and miserable, they were obnoxious and ruining it for everyone else). Mexico is a very rich and beautiful country and I wanna move there its a great vacation spot but there must be something wrong because theres alot of poor people over there coming to America and I was wondering does their government even help them with financial aid,health care and is there any good job opportunities? My best friend and I are going to see if we can go on a vacation next summer. We thought about the beach and some resort places like "The Great Wolf Lodge". But they seem too expensive. She'll be 19 and I'll be 18 next summer, so we need a good place for shopping, maybe swimming, hanging out, go-carts, beach maybe, anything that is a great vacation spot in North Carolina.
