I’m watching a movie about Ft. Knox on the History Channel. It looks like a great vacations spot. Tours and such. Does anyone know where I could stay.

I live in this area and have worked at two of the hotels in Radcliff (right outside of Ft. Knox). I would recommend the Gold Vault Inn (Formerly the Best Western, some internet sites still list it as such) (270-351-1141), or the Radcliff Inn (270-351-8211). I would also recommend reservations as some dates the entire area is booked up and people end up having to stay in Louisville (45 min. away) or even further away.
I would suggest you stay away from the Ft. Knox Inn and the Gateway Villa–roach motels, both. There is also a Super 8 and an Econo Lodge–both somewhere between the roach motels and the Gold Vault Inn and Radcliff Inn as far as amenities/cleanliness go.
I would not recommend a visit here unless you have some other reason for coming (visiting family, graduation on Ft. Knox/Family day, etc.) There is not much going on as far as “tourist attractions” unless you go to Louisville. If you do come by and have some time to kill, I would recommend a tour of Maker’s Mark distillery, a day-trip to Six Flags, a trip to Lincoln’s birthplace, lunch at the Trojan’s Den or the cafe in The Somewhere in Time Antique Mall. Dinner at the Gondolier in Elizabethtown is great (Italian and Greek). Check out the Patton Museum on Ft Knox-right now they have a display on WWII. Bernheim Forest is nearby they sell hand crafted arts and crafts, and have walking trails, etc.
Sorry, I know I extended this information beyond just places to stay, but I hope some of it is helpful/interesting.
