What are some good vacation spots that aren’t in California (But still in America)?

I live in California, and I am trying to think of some good vacation spots. I don’t want want to feel like I’m trapped in California for the summer, so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. Only;

1. Not Hawaii (Went there last year)
2. Not many far East Coast ideas (New York and up)
3. Not Florida!

Any ideas would be great, thanks!

P.S. Would Cleveland be a good place to vacation?

    I know of two good, fun cities:

    a) Atlanta, GA
    b) Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge, TN

    I have been to both MANY times and are both EXTREMELY enjoyable!

    I LOVE Colorado and summer is a great time to go!
    New Mexico is pretty cool….Carls Bad Caverns are a must if your there.

    I used to live in Alaska and there are cruise ships that leave Portland and Seattle area all the time and they go up to Juneau and a bunch of other small towns going up and down the trip. Its a great place to visit but I know I will never live there again. You can also go to Colorado and go to ranches there and feel and do the life of a Rancher (well not fully but close) you can come to Arizona there is a great town called Sedona and a town not far Sedona called Jerome it is in the mountain and I really mean in the mountain. Its a big tourist spot for all types of people. See not knowing what kinds of things you like to do I cant say to much on what would seem great for you on vacation. If you go to Cleveland then look more into the area and see what you would like to do in that state as well as in the City of Cleveland.

    Here’s an idea: Fly into Chicago and rent a car. Explore Chicago, drive to cleveland, than explore cleveland, then drive north into michigan all the way to the northern pennisula, explore the beauty along the way, cross the penn. then head south into Wisconsin and head south all the way back to chicago! Then fly home! If you have two weeks, should be more than enough time
