Virginia is known as much for its many products and resources as it is for it rich Colonial heritage and history. As early as the 1600s the commonwealth has been a center of production for many goods and luxuries. Historians tell of our forefathers growing tobacco along the cobbled streets of Jamestown, and for nearly a century Suffolk has been regarded one of the peanut capitals of the world.

Virginia is well regarded for its rich colonial heritage and pivotal importance in American revolutionary history. The agriculture of the commonwealth has been centered on the growth and distribution of tobacco and peanuts, as well as a leading exporter of cotton, ham and seafood.

The city of Virginia Beach lies along the seashores of Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay. Visiting Virginia Beach is a great way of hanging out during your weekend getaways or spending some time with a person who is near and dear to you.

The geology of New River Gorge is fascinating. The New River is actually one of the oldest rivers in the world and the oldest river in the Western Hemisphere.

Confederate President, Jefferson Davis and his family lived in the Southern White House (c. 1818). The columned mansion is newly refurbished; eleven rooms are open to the public. It is the premier artifact of the Confederacy and a National Historic Landmark.

Virginia in the summertime promises many of months of fun outdoor activities, concerts and tours. If you plan to visit the Richmond area, whether as part of a grand tour of the state or for a weekend getaway, you’ll find the options for entertainment are plentiful.

There are many amazing places to visit in Virginia, but one of the most breathtaking and awe inspiring is the Natural Bridge. This natural bridge is comprised of solid rock stretching 20 stories. Located in Shenandoah, it has a great deal of history to share with those who visit.

The Mount Vernon Trail, not to be confused with the Mount Vernon Forest Trail, is an 18.5 mile trail that follows the Potomac River and goes from George Washington’s Estate at Mount Vernon to Theodore Roosevelt Island. You can jog, bike or run.

For a day or a week, Charlottesville, Virginia is a must stop on any cultural or historical tour of Virginia. No matter the time of year, it is a welcome stop in the heart of the state.
