We need somewhere that we can drive. We are planning a vacation for right after Christmas and we are considering spending New Year’s Eve somewhere. We know of Branson, so please suggest anywhere else (or point out some great things about Branson we may not realize).

    Branson?

  2. Lake of the Ozarks which is close, but different. They have cool cabins for the winter months.

You can drive to Chicago within 5 hours, or SpringField, Illinois.
Tunica, Mississippi is within about that time frame if you like casinos.

I stayed at Chateau on the Lake in Branson last fall and it was very nice! I found the recently developed landing area to be almost upscale with nice dining and bars. There is some good shopping there too. You should check it out.

Big Cedar Lodge in Branson. This place is amazing…and even if you’re not much of the “country” person, you’ll love it. They have tons of things to do, and the scenery is gorgeous. Check out the website:

Nashville TN is about 5 – 5 1/2 hours from St Louis. Chicago is too. Tunica MS is around 4 1/2 – 5 hours away. All three are great destinations with alot to do. I hear Chicago is beautiful at Christmastime, but VERY cold.

  7. Ozark

  8. is there a reason why nobody said kansas city? lol

I am a college town type of guy. I love the feel of college cities. Columbia is a good city.

If tunica is that close I would go there. I been to columbia enough times lol
