Obviously, kids should have a say in some family decisions.I mean, the kids still have to ride in the back of the car which their parents decide to buy. They have to mow the lawn with the crappy mower that Dad decides is a great deal. And they have to go to the same place parents think is a great vacation spot.

What do you think? Do you think kids have too much of a role in family decisions?

Comments

  1. My kids don’t because I don’t let them. They can make decisions dealing with their own future, but they can’t make decisions for me or for the family.

  2. When my kids start paying some bills is when they will get to make family decisions ;D

  3. I don’t have kids and I never will :)

    my step-”dad” says we do.
    but mom lets us x]

  5. avrilfan says:

no,kids should have a say but it doesn’t mean that the family can agree but they still should have the chance to say wat they want.

  6. It depends. I think when your planning a vacation, you need to choose something that is good for all ages. I have four daughters (all under the age of four) and my mom comes on vacation with us to help. My husband and I are both in our early thirties, so we still like to party and have fun. We need something that is kid friendly though and my mother doesn’t like anything to wild. Those are a lot of variables.

I like to go out to eat. I have to pick a place that is kid friendly and has a decent kids menu. The food has to be healthy too!

I want uber nice furniture, but I don’t want grape juice being spilled on it. That means I have to choose something easy to clean and durable.

I love designer clothes. I get puked on at least once a month though and I don’t want to blow my kid’s college money on a purse.

It’s part of being a parent. Kids completely alter your life and they play a major role in decision making. It isn’t always fun, but that’s how it is!

  7. pathological says:

Only if parents let them. My kids try to give their opinion on what appliance, car, house, etc. we should buy. I like to remind them that while the US may be a democracy, our house is not.

  8. Object Permanence says:

No. My kids make decisions about what they’d like to wear (within reason) or what they’d like for a snack, but they don’t make “real” decisions that affect our family.

  9. Going through infertility says:

It is safer for children 12 and under to be in the back seat. As the air bags could suffocate a child 12 and under if you get into a car crash. I don’t think kids should have a role in family decisions.
